Frequently Asked Questions

  • Great question! While "training" often focuses on teaching specific commands (sit, stay, heel), behaviour consulting looks at the why behind the action. My background in Canine and Feline Behaviour and Welfare allows me to look at emotional states, environment, and health. I don't just stop the behaviour; I work to change how your pet feels so the behaviour isn't necessary anymore..

  • Not at all! While my specialization is in rescue and rehabilitation, I am more than happy to help with any dog or cat, regardless of their background. Whether you’ve had them since they were 8 weeks old or 8 years old, the science of learning remains the same.

  • I use positive-reinforcement, science-based methods. This means no fear, no pain, and no intimidation. My goal is to build a bond of trust between you and your pet. Given my academic background and rescue experience, I prioritize welfare above all else.

  • Absolutely! Cats are incredibly smart and capable of learning complex behaviours. Whether it’s resolving litter box issues, stopping furniture scratching, or even teaching them to enjoy their carrier for vet visits, cat behaviour is a huge part of what I do.

  • "Aggression" is usually a symptom of underlying fear or frustration. Because I’ve worked extensively in rescue and boarding environments, I am very comfortable working with reactive or nervous dogs. We will move at your dog's pace to ensure everyone stays safe and relaxed.

  • Behavioural change isn't an overnight fix (I wish it were!). Simple habits might shift in a couple of sessions, but deep-seated fears or anxieties take time. After our initial consultation, I’ll provide a realistic roadmap tailored to your pet’s specific needs.
